[17 Jun 2008|05:23pm]

The Gender Public Advocacy Coalition is pleased to announce the release of its 2008 GENIUS Survey in partnership with Ernst & Young. GenderPAC works to ensure that classrooms, communities and workplaces are safe for everyone to learn, grow and succeed.

The Gender Equality National Index for Universities & Schools (GENIUS), GenderPAC’s most recent effort to end discrimination and promote awareness, encourages colleges and universities to recognize the benefits of a GenderSAFEtm campus - supportive equitable and protective for all students. Choosing to participate in GENUIS sends a strong public statement that bullying or discriminating based on the race, sex or gender of a student, faculty, or staff member is not tolerated at your institution

Fill out the survey at: www.gpac.org/GENIUS2008survey, and make sure that we have data for as many schools as possible. Your voice will help us continue to work towards a safe and welcoming environment for every student.

*While we greatly appreciate the interest taken in GENIUS by students, staff, and faculty at academic institutions outside of the United States, at this time GENIUS is only able to track schools based in the U.S.

Research participation wanted! [17 Sep 2006|09:05pm]

Linda Jones, a clinical psychology graduate student at UMBC, is conducting an online research study on how young adults with peanut allergy and/or tree nut allergy perceive the way their parent(s) raised them. Her research also aims to determine how these characteristics relate to other aspects of daily life. All participants must be between the ages of 18 and 22, but do not need to have peanut or tree nut allergy. Participants will be entered in a drawing to win their choice of either an Ipod or Nintendo DS-Lite. If you would like to participate the link to the survey is below. It will take approximately one hour to complete.

puppy free to a good home [31 Aug 2006|03:09am]

We will most likely have to give up Bella because, really, we can't afford two dogs.

As sad as this makes me, I will be able to handle it if she goes to a good home... especially if it's someone I know and trust.

If anyone wants a good dog, here's her stats:

She's a collie/hound mix according to Lexington Humane Society.

She is pretty well leash trained.

She still has a little way to go on housebreaking. If you take her out often enough, she shouldn't be a big problem. The puppy pads should help, too.

She is SO cute. She looks like a beagle. I think she will get kind of big, though (in the neighborhood of 30-50 pounds), because she is about 3 months old and already about 2/3 the size of Vash, who is a 1-year-old border collie (25 pounds). Plus she has really big paws for her size.

She has a very sweet and loving nature, but she can be afraid if you have an aggressive tone in your voice. She's either wagging her tail or cowering. In other words - NOT a mean/aggressive dog at all toward people.

If you have other dogs, she'll get along with them - maybe if they will go along with her ways. Bella is a bit aggressive toward other dogs, but just enough for her to establish herself as the alpha. She likes dogs who respect her and will play with her.

All in all, she just needs some housebreaking training and she will be a great pet for anyone.

PLEASE let me know if you are interested. I will drive as far as Ohio to give her a good home. Otherwise, We are going to take her to our vet or the shelter where any random person will take her. I would MUCH prefer a person I know so I can visit or ask about her.

Study Abroad? [26 Aug 2006|09:58pm]
Have any of you completed a study abroad program at EKU?
If so- Who did you go through? KIIS, NKU/CCSA, Or Arcadia?
Have you heard any positives/negatives about any of those?

Has anyone studied at Ireland via these programs?

PR/SPSS assignment - help!!! [09 May 2006|04:26am]

Between not understanding the program and the professor's cryptic/confusing/vague/fucked up instructions, I have spent all night working on an assignment that shouldn't take more than half an hour.

It's the final assignment for Dr. Hesse's Mass Media Research class.

As a final, I have an assignment involving the statistics software SPSS.... not only do I not know how to use the program; I also have no clue how to interpret the results of certain functions.

I figure if anyone has had Dr. Hesse for a PR or research clas,, you could probably help me figure this out in about 5 minutes. I'm willing to pay someone to make this make sense. Please answer ASAP - it's due at 1:30 this afternoon.

Questions [26 Apr 2006|11:10pm]

[ mood | confused ]

Hey guys, I am visiting your community to ask you a question. Any help would be majorly appreciated.
I am heading to Richmond this weekend and need #1 recommendations on some fabulous local restaurant that is not ridiculously priced and #2 does anyone know where Brock Auditorium is? I could use directions from I64 if at all possible.

Thank you, so much!!

In desperate need of term paper help {x-posted} [05 Apr 2006|08:04pm]

I'm taking a class on evolution and extinction. It's an Honors class with two sadistic professors who are impossible to please.

Anyway, I think I've bitten off more than I can chew with my paper topic.... and it's too late to change it.

I'm writing on the topic of evolution in the media, particularly political cartoons. All I can think of as far as sources for this is just Googling for cartoons, and possible reviews of cartoons and cartoonists. I have no idea where to go from there. I am SO stuck and SO screwed unless a miracle occurs and I can figure out an approach to this.

One of my professors specifically mentioned Garry Trudeau (the guy who does the Doonesbury comic), so I may have something to work with there.

Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated... Honors classes are evil.

Thanks in advance,

So... does anyone know of any counter-demonstrations to that "Cemetary (sic) of the Innocent" display in the Ravine?

(At least it reminded me to renew my membership with Planned Parenthood and NARAL.)

computer chair for sale [06 Jan 2006|10:55pm]

I have a task chair I bought at OfficeMax. It's brand new - I've never even used it.
It's made of leather and because I am against animal cruelty, I won't use it.
I bought it because I saw the display on the sales floor and I thought it was fake leather. I didn't realize until I took it home and started putting it together that it was real leather. I can't return it because I lost the receipt.

It's a black leather roller chair. Here's what it looks likeCollapse )
I paid $40, but I'll take $20 for it.

Please let me know if you're interested via comment or email - nlrobinson84@yahoo.com
